Who Were The First Americans?
There has been much discussion these past several years about Kennewick Man and the question of this country's ancestors.
Those of you interested in archaeology, anthropology, the New World Entrada controversy, and, in general, all of what modern archaeology is about, including science, religion, and indigenous people's rights, probably know much about the Kennewick Man and the many articles written about these topics on the Internet and otherwise. Time Magazine's "Who Were The First Americans" article, Mar 5, 2006; PBS's "Meet Kennewick Man" series; About.com Archaeology 101; and many others. But what does a study of rock art have to say about this topic? Actually, very much, as time spent travelling to and thinking about Gordon's Panel and other rock art sites in the southwest will prove.
I have written quite a bit on this website already about how observation of the rock art at Gordon's Panel and many other sites in this region, some photographed in my Other Rock Art Sites page, completely debunks any simple theory of where our ancestors came from. Read my posts "The Truth About Gordon's Panel" and the "ROCK-ART@ASU.EDU archive" for more information on this. A study of rock art in conjunction with many other lines of study taken on by open-minded anthropologists and archaeologists could add very much to this topic.
As I have said many times throughout this web site, you do not have to take my word for it. I encourage you to take the time to hike down to Gordon's Panel and look for yourself. Observe for yourself. We've had a map posted for over a year now at our Location Information page.
Could theses people have been the people that are talked about in the Book of Mormon?
